Dan Xu, originally from China, immigrated to Canada in 2001. She works in the traditional Chinese painting style of using ink and wash applied with a wool brush to Chinese xuan paper. Dan Xu uses this traditional technique to bring a fresh perspective on the New Brunswick landscape. The Saint John River Valley and the Bay of Fundy feature prominently in her work.
Dan Xu graduated from Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in China in 1992. She has received numerous grants from ArtsNB, has work in the New Brunswick Art Bank, and recently completed a residency at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
