Art in Rome: Warrior Popes, Duels, Disasters and Moody Artists

Another upcoming Art History lecture at the Saint John Arts Centre:

Art in Rome: Warrior Popes, Duels, Disasters and Moody Artists. Saint John Arts Centre, Wednesday, November 17, 6:30-9:00 p.m., $20. Contact SJAC at 633-4870 to register.

This informal lecture covers the brilliant Renaissance and Baroque periods of Roman art through the work of Michelangelo, Raphael, Bernini and Caravaggio. Learn about the sometimes-stormy relationships between these artists and their patrons, their sometimes-deadly mishaps, and how their art and architecture irrevocably changed the face of Rome.

This lecture is given by artist and art historian Sarah Jones, and is illustrated with images from Sarah’s art historical studies in Rome.
